This course is aimed at beer brewers who are looking at sharpening their brewing skills and understanding of the key brewing calculations that underpin the brewing process and then apply this to create their own award winning beer recipe.  We then look to scale it up and brew on an award winning 1.5 bbl commercial microbrewery set in a converted barn in the heart of the beautiful Peak District.

This is the ultimate 'Beer Brewing Weekend' for somebody looking to sharpen their beer brewing skills and knowledge but then experience the practical side of brewing a recipe on a commercial brewday with a brewer on a commercial scale microbrewery.  The two day weekend brewing course comprises:

 

Advanced Beer Brewing Weekend (Day 1 - Saturday)

There are two elements to this weekend beer brewing course.  On the first day you participate in an Advance Brewing Skills Course where you will look at the fundamentals of beer recipe development including the essential of understanding the key brewing calculations.

Expert brewing tutor  Tom Newman will also cover a number of the following:

Brew with a brewer on a microbrewery (Day 2 - Sunday)

Following on from looking at the essentials of beer styles and recipe development on this 2nd day of the course; on the Sunday you will visit an award winning microbrewery in the Peak District to brew with a commercial brewer on their 1.5 bbl microbrewery going through and assisting the brewer on a commercial brewday.

You will experience the beer brewing day and assist with the brewing process and gain at first hand what brewing in a small microbrewery is like and look at the challenges of scaling up your recipe from a homebrew scale to that of brewing on a commercial scale brew plant.

As part of the days beer brewing experience you will receive:

  • comprehensive notes of the brewing process provided by Brew-School 
  • a selection pack of 3 craft beers produced by the brewery
  • a sample of Peak Ales hand crafted beer served in their tap room
  • expert tuition from a commercial brewer on the brewing process in a microbrewery
  • an artisan buffet lunch together with light refreshments during the day

This experience is a unrivalled and fascinating isight into the world of a commercial brewer
