Week 1 - Diploma in Spirits and Distilling

 

This Diploma in Distilling Course is an intensive spirits and distilling course spread over 2 weeks.  During this 2 week spirits and distilling course you will look in depth at the flavours and history of the international world of spirits and liqueurs. 

We start the course by looking in depth at the world of spirits and liqueurs tasting a range of distilled spirits looking at their origins and flavour characteristics.

We up skill you in the fascinating world so that you can talk knowledgeably about the world of craft spirits and how they can be combined with the skils of a mixoligist to produce outstanding cocktails.

Part of this course will involve an exlusive visit to a local Peak District distillery looking at the production of gin and the distillery process.

You will end the first week with a Gala dinner with an award winning Peak District Chef cooking a 7 course tasting menu together with a drinks flight of wine and spirits provided by a local wine merchant who will talk your through a tutored tasting.

 

Week 2 - Diploma in Spirits and Distilling

 

The second week of study looks in detail at the distilling process and how to set up your own craft distillery.

During the next 5 days of study on our Practical Commercial Distilling Course with our Master Distiller Jamie Baxter you will work through the syllabus of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) Foundation of Distilling course.  On the fifth day we drill down to explore the commercial elements and considerations of setting up your own distillery.

On the Final day of the course we look over the last day at the history and production of Gin looking at recipe development and distilling a small batch gin for you to sample.

The finale will be a Gin Distilling and Cocktail Masterclass looking at how you can create stunning gin cocktails and therefore how you maximise the value from your craft distilled spirits into retail in a bar.

The course ie led by and expert tutor craft distiller Jamie Baxter with the addition to a number of other expert speakers.
